Focus on Kinetic Control UK

10th July 2017

Each month we take an in-depth look at courses and activities in specific regions where KC delivers its programme of events. This month the spotlight is on the UK, the birth place of Kinetic Control.

The UK is a key location for Kinetic Control and it's where we began delivering the Movement Health message over 20 years ago.  Headed up by Sarah Mottram and Mark Comerford, co-founders of KC we continue to reach out to physios and movement professionals, helping them enable their patients and achieve their goals.

This year, so far, we have delivered two parts of the 15 day Movement Solution One course for yet again a truly international contingent of students.

See below, some photos from the practical sessions that took place earlier this month, with tutor Sarah Mottram, and stay tuned for a review at the end of the year when part three is completed.

IDENTIFYING AND RETRAINING UNCONTROLLED MOVEMENT IN PEOPLE WITH AMPUTATIONS

We were delighted to be able to offer our specialised course 'Identifying Uncontrolled Movement in People with Amputations' at the Specialised Ability Centre Manchester, UK this year, with Louise Tisdale delivering a very successful three day event, in March and April.  The main objective of the course is to enable therapists to identify and retrain movement control impairments that relate to functional impairments (gait in particular) and pain.

the movement solution two - moving further

We are looking forward to the return of 'The Movement Solution Two: Moving Further', on 23-27 October in London.  Mark Comerford leads this 5 day masterclass, which takes The Movement Solution further into understanding how to manage multi-joint dysfunctions; so if you only sign up to one masterclass this year, make it this one and learn how to deal with these problem patients!  There are no pre-requisites for joining this masterclass and the feedback from students is always phenomenally good, including when asked...

What was the best aspect of the course?

“The practical training and of course Mark´s enthusiastic way of teaching”

“Practical handling of joint testing and the overall picture. An eye opener when it comes to PGP”

“The lecturer was so clear and interesting in every aspect both teaching and demonstrating his skills”
