Fixing Functional Movement

5th April 2016

Fixing Functional Movement. Mark Comerford takes a moment to discuss how functional training might not be the best fix for deficits in functional movement.

Whilst functional training continues to be the zenith of training methodologies for some, there is a need to consider which injury and pain related mechanisms go unresolved if this is the only approach applied. If pain alters the brain’s role in movement, issues of recurrence related to these changes, need to be addressed with a process that targets this mechanism. Cognitive training can change the patterns, function can employ but fails to alter.
