Kinetic Control - a focus on Finland

9th April 2019

SARAH MOTTRAM, HEAD OF MOVEMENT PERFORMANCE SOLUTIONS, REFLECTS ON THE HISTORY OF KINETIC CONTROL IN FINLAND.

‘Physiotherapy is a very well-established profession within Finland. We are delighted to have delivered education in this territory for 20 years. Finland has a strong manual therapy expertise and so we are pleased to have had the opportunity to integrate the Kinetic Control approach alongside this well-established education. We have taken Kinetic Control to hospitals, clinics and physio’s working in rehab environments. We have always felt very welcome and appreciated and look forward to continuing the journey. Our senior tutor, Kari Niemi, continues to champion movement as the intervention of choice in so many clinical presentations.’

MARK COMERFORD IS LOOKING FORWARD TO RETURNING TO FINLAND IN MAY TO DELIVER TWO MASTERCLASSES:

The Elbow, Wrist and Hand and a day with a focus on the hot topic of all things Hamstring – exploring a truly multifactorial approach. Mark’s extensive clinical mileage and brilliant clinical reasoning will promise this to be a fabulous three days at this sold out event.

Here is Kari Niemi’s (Kinetic Control Accredited Tutor) perspective on hiS KC JOURNEY:

"It has been a fantastic, mind blowing, and a hugely developmental journey"

“What is the most important skill of physiotherapists in the field of musculoskeletal pain and dysfunction? Of course, I think it is to observe, assess, diagnose and retrain movement control presentations related to pain and activity limitations.

My first experience of the Kinetic Control system was twenty years ago when Mark Comerford and Sarah Mottram started to deliver courses in Finland. I joined the KC tutor team in 2010 and have been teaching courses since then. I am very grateful that Kinetic Control courses have been so well received not only in Finland, but also in so many territories worldwide.

It has been a fantastic, mind blowing, and a hugely developmental journey and I much appreciate being involved in the international team. I truly see the value in Kinetic Control process, and how it continues to evolve and clinically apply contemporary movement science.

We physiotherapists are lifespan practitioners who help people to maintain their Movement Health, and as the APTA Mission Statement says for the Physical Therapy Profession: “Transforming society by optimizing movement to improve the human experience”.
